the big family

Terms of use

the big family is a private archive your family builds together. These terms are the agreement between you and withPICA Ltd, the company that runs it. They are written to be read.

The service

We provide a private place for a family to record its people, connections, stories and photos. Each archive belongs to one family; its stewards decide who joins, and joining is the only way in. The product is young and still growing, and we ship changes often; what it does today is described honestly at /about.

Your family’s content stays yours

Everything your family records belongs to your family. You give us only the permission we need to store it and show it to the relatives allowed to see it under your family’s own visibility choices. We do not sell it, we do not advertise against it, we do not share it between families, and we do not use it to train AI. You can export it or erase it at any time, as described in our privacy notice.

What we ask of you

Stewards

Stewards are family members with the keys: they approve who joins, they can correct records, and they carry out erasures when asked. Being a steward is a responsibility inside your family, not a role we supervise; choose yours the way you would choose who holds the family photo albums.

Cost

Free to start. If that ever changes, we will say so plainly before it does, and nothing your family has recorded will be held hostage to a price.

Endings

You can stop using the service at any time, export what is yours, and ask for your record to be erased; erasure is complete and cannot be undone. If we ever had to wind the service down, we would give families time and a way to take their archives with them.

The legal lines

We provide the service with care but as it is, and we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or free of mistakes. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us for the service, and nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Changes and contact

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so on this page with a new date. Questions go to hello@thebig-family.com.
